Thank you for using kaune! Here is a quick guide on how to get the most out of the app.
✅ Checklist
You can register text in your checklists to manage shopping lists or to-do items, and easily toggle them between completed and incomplete.
How to Create Items
Open the “List” tab at the bottom of the screen and tap the Plus (+) button at the bottom right to create a new item. Each line in the text field becomes a separate item, so you can create multiple items at once by using line breaks. You can also paste text from your clipboard, which is convenient for copying lists from messaging apps or websites.
How to Use Items
- Toggle Completed/Incomplete: Tap the checkbox to the left of the item.
- Edit Name: Tap the item name.
- Delete: Tap the item name, then tap the delete button on the right.
- Reorder: Long-press an item and drag it to the desired position.
- Create a Note: Tap the Plus (+) button to the right of an item to create a note with the same name.
- Open a Note: Tap the thumbnail to the right of an item. The thumbnail only appears if a note with the same name exists.
How to Use Reordering
Tap the “sparkle” button in the upper right corner to use AI to reorder your list by category. Available features vary between the Free Plan and the Premium Plan (paid subscription). If you reach your usage limit, you can use it again by watching a video ad. Usage limits and terms are subject to change without notice depending on service conditions.
How to Create Lists
Tap the Plus (+) button at the top right of the list index. To see the list index, tap the current list name at the top left of the item screen.
How to Use Lists
- Change List Settings: Tap the menu icon at the top right and select “List Settings.” You can change the list name, color, and icon.
- Open List Index: Tap the list name at the top left of the screen.
- Delete: Tap the menu icon at the top right and select “Delete List.”
- Reorder: In the list index screen, long-press a list and drag it.
📖 Notes
In Notes, you can register both text and images. Use them to keep track of your favorite brands, clothing sizes, prices, or shopping tips. It’s perfect for remembering the specific brand of seasoning you always buy or your family’s clothing sizes.
How to Create Notes
Open the “Note” tab at the bottom of the screen and tap the Add button at the bottom right. Alternatively, in the “List” tab, you can tap the Plus (+) button next to an item name to create a note with that same name.
Auto-Linking Notes and Lists
If there is a note with the same name as an item in your checklist, a thumbnail will appear in the checklist, allowing you to open the note with a single tap.
👥 Sign-In and Backup
When you sign in, your data is backed up to the cloud and synced across your devices in real time. You can also create a group to share lists and notes with your family or friends. You can still use the app entirely on your device without signing in.
How to Sign In
- Open the “Settings” tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Under “Users & Groups,” tap “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Apple.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions to sign in.
What You Can Do After Signing In
- Back up your data and restore it when you switch devices.
- Sync your data and use it on multiple devices.
- Join or invite others to a group and edit together.
Data Created Before Signing In
If you have lists or notes created before signing in, you can choose either “Add data to the cloud” or “Discard local data” when you sign in. If you choose “Add data to the cloud,” the data on your device, including images, is migrated to the cloud.
Changing Your User Name
Go to “Settings” → “Users & Groups” → “Change user name.” Your user name is shown in the group member list.
Signing Out
Go to “Settings” → “Users & Groups” → “Sign out.” Please restart the app after signing out.
👨👩👧 Sharing with a Group
With groups, you can share lists and notes with your family or friends and edit them together. If you share a shopping list, whenever someone adds or completes an item, the change is reflected for everyone. Signing in is required to use groups.
Inviting Members
- Go to “Settings” → “Users & Groups” → “Invite to group.”
- A 6-digit invitation code and a QR code are displayed.
- Share the invitation code or the QR code with the other person.
*Invitation codes expire 24 hours after they are issued. If a code has expired, simply issue a new one.
Joining a Group
- Go to “Settings” → “Users & Groups” → “Join group.”
- Enter the 6-digit invitation code you received, or tap “Scan QR code” to scan the QR code.
- Tap “Join.”
Managing Members
The group owner (the person whose group the members were invited to) can do the following from the member list:
- Remove a member: Select a member and tap “Remove.”
- Transfer ownership: Select a member and tap “Transfer ownership.” After the transfer, you become a regular member.
Leaving a Group
Go to “Settings” → “Users & Groups” → “Leave group.” After leaving, you return to your own personal group. The owner cannot leave a group as-is. Please transfer ownership to another member first.
Good to Know
- Up to 20 people can belong to a single group.
- The group’s lists, notes, and images are shared by all members. Whoever added them, every member can view, edit, and delete them.
- If you have lists you want to keep to yourself, use the app without joining a group.
📥 Import from Other Apps
You can share text from other apps, such as chat or messaging apps (like LINE), to kaune to automatically fill in the item registration screen.
How to Share Text from LINE
- Long-press the message in LINE that you want to register in kaune.
- When the popup appears, tap “Forward.”
- Tap the “Forward” button.
- Tap “Share with other apps.”
- Select “kaune.”
*Steps may vary depending on your OS or the version of LINE you are using.
💬 Feedback
Go to “Settings” → “Feedback” to send us your impressions of the app, suggestions for improvement, or bug reports. We read everything we receive, but since this is a receive-only channel, we do not send individual replies.
- Messages can be up to 2,000 characters each.
- You can attach up to one image. This is useful for screenshots of a bug or an inappropriate ad.
- You can send up to 10 messages every 6 hours.
📦 Exporting Your Data
Go to “Settings” → “About this app” → “Export data” to export the data stored in the app as a single ZIP file. If you are signed in, the data and images of the groups you belong to are included as well. This may take a while depending on how much data you have.
🗑 Deleting Your Data
Deleting Your Account (while signed in)
Go to “Settings” → “Users & Groups” → “Delete account.” Your account and all data associated with it are permanently deleted and cannot be restored. If you own any groups, you choose for each one whether to “Transfer” it (hand ownership to another member) or “Delete the entire group.”
Deleting All Data (while signed out)
Go to “Settings” → “About this app” → “Delete all data” to delete all data stored on this device. Because there is no account associated with the data, it cannot be restored.
📺 Ads
To keep the app running, we display banner ads in the app. Video ads play only when you tap “Watch Ad to Reset” after reaching your AI feature usage limit. Whether to watch is always up to you.
